Video analysis is more and more often used in mountain bike, to compare riders’ tracks, to entertain fans, or to teach or sharpen up Mtb riders’ techniques.

Ben Cathro is a great downhill mountain bike racer. He has 2 passions: riding his bike as fast as physically possible and helping other riders to develop their competencies by coaching them.

He uses Dartfish analysis software in his videos either to analyze tracks from World Cup or other downhill competitions or to illustrate some specific aspects of techniques he teaches.

By breaking down in stromotion or simulcam, a track or technical movement, you can easily identify the dos and don’ts. This is the best and fast way to understand and improve a technique.

In downhill, for example, body position, line choices, and trajectories are the core skills, difficult to acquire.

In the Pinkbike video series “How to bike”, Ben breaks down fundamental cycling skills and techniques with video analysis. Thus, bikers can understand how to have a good position on their bike, choose the best lines, or take turns correctly.
