Since last September, and after the incorporation of Dr. Manolo Montoya as National Coach of the Men’s National Handball Team, the Iranian Handball Federation (IRIHF) started using myDartfish Live S to monitor their players during training sessions and matches, as well as for the analysis of their opponents.
Manolo Montoya, a regular user of Dartfish software since 2010, utilized it with the men’s national handball teams in Spain and Qatar. Spain took the championship in 2013 and Qatar placed 2nd in the Handball World Championships in 2015, reaffirming the power of Dartfish software for sports analysis.
Upon arrival in Iran, and after consideration of several different sports analysis software systems available on the market, the IRIHF Head Coach, Dr. Manolo Montoya, and Mr. Nasser Salimi, who oversees analysis, both decided that Dartfish software was the best fit to meet the needs of their team.
Tagging Panel
To control the technical and tactical aspects carried out during the training sessions, Mr. Salimi has designed several customized tagging panels. This provides the national team with three targeted concentration areas, to date.
These customized tagging panels allow a simple and fast way to filter and image aspects needing correction.
Tagged images are essential for the improvement of the team. It means that players can observe selected images, with clear understanding of the coach’s intent.
Opponent Analysis
The speed and specificity of Dartfish, facilitates analysis and game preparation by providing images and statistics of opponents.
The observation, recording, and editing of opponents were all carried out in two matches played against team “B” of the Iranian team and then adjustments were made. The observed elements were then applied in the friendly international tournament, held in Qatar. Teams from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iran participated in 2021, during the first week of November.
The use of Dartfish provided a strong platform for preparation in friendly matches against Oman and Iraq, at the Spanish Tournament (Cuenca, Spain, January 2022) and in the Asian Championship (Dammam, Saudi Arabia, January 2022). The Iranian National Team racked up victories against the N.T of Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, Iraq & Kuwait, qualifying for the World Championship in 2023, where Iran will compete for the second time in its history.
