Across the globe, Olympic athletes competing in each of the 15 winter sport disciplines, Dartfished their way to the Winter Olympic Games. Over 68% of the medals won in Sochi were earned by Dartfish users. Let’s take a trip and discover the Dartfish impact for some of them, starting with the host nation and medal table leaders…

Vic Wild wins two gold medals in snowboard
“Dartfish allows for us to look at where we are fast and where we need to be quicker through the turns and also allows us to look at what we are doing in slow motion. It is incredibly important when you are trying to get the most out of your riding. For me Dartfish with the overlay tool and slow motion is my most useful coach.”
Pavel Rostovtsev, Russian women’s shooting coach, helps biathlon team earn two medals at Sochi using Dartfish
“We started using Dartfish software with the Russian National Biathlon Team in the training process to improve shooting skills in 2011,” states Russian Women’s Shooting Coach, Pavel Rostovtsev. “During the 2012 season and throughout 2013, we developed a system. First, identify indexes which influence shooting. Then monitor them using Dartfish video analysis on the shooting range. We noted model characteristics of all elements that interested us and the most important parameters of technical actions when firing, both in the training process and in competitions.
As a result, the most important elements became very clear for specialists and athletes, because Dartfish software tools allowed us to not only develop analyses using drawings and to determine timing, it also provided a way to compare the current actions with the model characteristics. I think that the software gives endless opportunities for coaching creativity. And it can become a very good assistant for athletes in preparation for the most important sporting events.”

Print media were also wowed by sporting technologies. The following article was one among many to feature us.
To shave fractions of a second, lugers turn to GoPros and Computer Design
‘Luge has made use of Dartfish software, which creates stroboscopic effects,’ Gordy Sheer, Director of Marketing and Sponsorship USA Luge explains, ‘so athletes can see where they drove through an entire curve.’ Dartfish also creates an effect where footage of one athlete can be overlaid on top of another athlete. ‘You can very clearly illustrate the differences by showing those two sleds going down simultaneously,’ notes Sheer. As a result, a truly tangible comparison can be made between two riders.” Read the full article
USA’s Olympic High Performance Director trains with Dartfish
Dr. Scott Riewald, the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Winter Sport High Performance Director, works in partnership with the eight National Governing Bodies to coordinate sport science and medical services, as well as other forms of support for winter sport athletes.
The goal of his work is to enhance athletes’ performance and give U.S. athletes the best chance possible to podium at the Olympic Winter Games. Toward that end, Dr. Riewald and his team have incorporated Dartfish technology into training routines and performance assessment for several of the last Winter Games, including Sochi.
