The world of sports has changed dramatically in the last few weeks. The coronavirus pandemic has constrained organizations to cancel their events, competitions, and even training.

The question is: How will teams retain and increase their tactical skills? And how will athletes, maintain and develop their physical skills, during this indeterminate period of time, when unable to practice together in the same physical space?

Communication is the key to stay connected and to keep the team mentally and physically tough and motivated.

Even if the season is over for many competitors, it’s still important to keep athletes positive, engaged and motivated, especially in getting through this challenging and unprecedented time.

Through online collaboration, coaches and athletes can connect and continue to work together.

Dartfish video solutions and Dartfish.tv SmartCloud, allow coaches to provide vital video training plans for athletes. So even remotely, coaches can design individualized and team workouts for their athletes.

And the off season is always a great time to work on specific skills and workouts that you may not have had time to address during the regular season.

Note a few ideas to stay strong and in the game:

  1. Create an assessment archive
Create a post-analysis archive of matches or competitions from your teams, athletes or competitors, identifying tactical and technical strengths and weaknesses for individual or team improvement. The high-value database you’ve developed, becomes an invaluable coaching and training reference for your upcoming seasons.
  1. Develop individualized workouts
You can develop one-on-one remote training sessions with your athletes, to improve their performance. With live communication tools, like Skype or What’sApp, you can share your screen and comment live with your analysis.

You can also save your work on your computer or app and share your analysis with your athlete later. In the next segment, we’ll show you how.
  1. Scout from home
While the coronavirus spreads worldwide, with competition suspended and travel difficult, scouting alternatives are necessary. This may call for the use of video footage you have available to make forecasts on players of interest with time well spent fully analyzing them.

This period of inactivity could also be the ideal time to look deeper into other countries, leagues, and players.

Spending time wisely now to prepare for future competitions across Europe and beyond, could pay off – big time.
